Learn the foundations of using a computer: turning it off and on, mouse and keyboard skills. Designed to increase your computer confidence!

Internet Basics

Learn how fundamentals of the internet- what it is, how to connect, and how to browse the web! Navigating websites, URL’s and search engine usage is also covered.

Class #3

How To Use Email

Learn how to setup your own email address, how to select an effective password, and how to send and receive emails. We will also cover basic email safety practices.

Online Safety Tips

Staying safe online and avoiding scams is important for anyone- young or old! Learn how to spot cyber scams, prevent viruses and malware and what to do if you think you may be a victim.

Do I need To register Ahead of time?

Yes, you must register ahead of time using one of the pages above.

Do I need To bring my own computer?

Each individual library will provide a number of Chromebooks for use during the classes.

Are These Classes Free?

Yes, the classes are all 100% free! The Hawaii State Public Library System is partnering with the State of Hawaii’s Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, Workforce Development Division to provide these courses. Funding was provided by a U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration grant.

Who Is Teaching These Classes?

The class instructors will be members of the Mapunawai Inc team, a registered 501c(3) non-profit in the state of Hawaii. We have taught thousands of students, and encourage anyone wanting to learn to join us!
